What materials should be cut on the different grip strengths of mats?

Cricut cutting mats have been customized to match commonly used crafting materials. Each has just the right level of grip to hold your material firmly in place during cutting and allows easy removal of the material. 


LightGrip Adhesive Cutting Mats

The LightGrip mat is a multipurpose mat that is perfect for a wide range of lightweight materials. 

Recommended materials:

  • Thin cardstock

  • Construction paper

StandardGrip Adhesive Cutting Mats

The StandardGrip mat is a multipurpose mat that is perfect for a wide range of medium-weight materials.

StrongGrip Adhesive Cutting Mats

FabricGrip Adhesive Cutting Mats

The FabricGrip mat combines increased strength, density, and quality plus a light adhesive for use with a wide variety of fabrics. Use with Cricut® machines and Rotary Blade or Bonded-Fabric Blade.

Recommended materials

  • Any fabric. FabricGrip mats are specially designed to secure fabrics for cutting, with easy release.


Tips for using adhesive cutting mats

  • Keep the clear film cover on the mat when storing to keep mat free from dust and debris.
  • Use the Cricut Scraper to scrape off excess pieces and the spatula to carefully remove cut images.
  • To ensure best performance, use the recommended material types on each of the three mats.
