Design Space Release Notes

This Design Space for Desktop Beta release (v9.80) includes backend improvements and the following features and fixes.  

Note: This section will be updated when this release goes to production.  

Improvement to getting-started Home page experience for new users

This update ensures that new users or users that don’t have a registered machine are routed to a Home page experience designed to help them get started in Design Space, rather than the standard Home page.  

Improved organization for AI styles

This update consists of improved management and organization of AI Styles within categories when any AI panel is opened, making it easier to browse and find the style you want.  

Fixed field issues

This release:

• Fixed an issue causing the machine pop-up to appear automatically when navigating back to the Prepare or Make screen from Home.  
• Chatbot being unresponsive has been fixed.  
• Canvas not displaying images or design elements has been fixed.  
• Fixed a user interface issue with Canada DTF in the new project modal.
• Fixed an issue causing ‘Save as’ option to display for newly created projects.
• Fixed an issue causing Design Space to freeze on Make screen after choosing option to Edit one of the mats.

The last 6 weeks:

Over the last 6 weeks we've fixed 58 software defects, including the following priority field issues and reliability concerns:

• DXF file type missing from the list of compatible file types in the upload screen has been fixed.  
• ‘Operations not supported’ error showing upon replacing a Guided Flow project with a saved Blank Canvas project canvas has been fixed.  
• Sticker option missing in Blank Canvas when navigating from the Folded Card flow has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing the load type to get changed when increasing project copies of text project.  
• Cricut Maker Perforation shapes not displaying on the mat screen has been fixed.
• Fixed an issue causing “Confirm your rights to uploaded images” popup to get displayed after clicking “Add to Cart” for AI images.Fixed an issue causing the new project modal to not appear for some users after new product setup.
• Cropped uploaded image not showing properly when added to Canvas has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing Design Space to exit out of new product setup when an offline error occurs during the test cut has been fixed.  
• Machine selector on Home switching back to the connected machine after a different model is selected has been fixed.  
• Chatbot not appearing on Canvas or in Chrome browser after completing new product setup has been fixed.  
• Chatbot introduction in new product setup not being shown to all users to whom it should be shown, has been fixed.  
• “Start Designing” button not being enabled for Folded Card and Iron-On projects in the new project modal has been fixed.  
• Fixed a post-firmware update reconnection failure issue.  
• Machine switching automatically to previously selected machine upon changing machine from machine picker on Home page has been fixed.  
• Image Panel scroll getting stuck when filters are applied in Images panel has been fixed.  
• Width not allowing more than 11.75 inches when updating design area size in Vinyl, Iron-On, and Cardstock project flows has been fixed.  
• Fixed a search issue causing image number # sign to coming through as %23 in search field instead of #M has been fixed.  
• Image badge attribution tile closing when Bookmark is clicked has been fixed.
• Infinite loading spinner in the “Add to Collection” section for a newly created user has been fixed.  
• An issue causing some projects to show an asterisk (*) beside the project name, making it look like it has unsaved changes, has been fixed.  
• “Image not saved” error getting triggered for uploaded, multi-layer images (except SVG files) and inability to add to Canvas has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue with some events logging inconsistent values issue for Cricut Explore 3 machines.
• Fixed an issue on the payment page causing the scroll bar to be hidden.  
• Canvas tour launching above the new project modal has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing items that have been United to cut separately instead of as a single cut.  
• Fixed an issue causing Canvas to take too long to load after an action is performed.
• Fixed an issue causing text bounding box to appear along with another wrong blue selection, preventing editing/deletion of characters when a text object is selected in a Template.  
• Fixed an issue causing the force connect modal to automatically route to new product setup.
• Images info banner not displaying on first session has been fixed.  
• Inability to pan or move the image withing the Background Remover workspace after zooming in, along with reduced workspace size affecting usability, has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing keyboard selection to not fetch results in Category dropdown has been fixed.  
• Uploaded image cropping not showing properly when added to Canvas has been fixed.
• Fixed an issue on the project modal causing there to be no scroll bar on the Education page when the screen size is reduced.
• Cricut Explore 3 losing connection when firmware update is initiated through the machine picker has been fixed.
• Fixed an issue with Explore 5 causing multiple Bluetooth connection failures after switching machine from Bluetooth to USB.
• Save and Save As options being displayed for a new unsaved project when created using the New (+) icon from the Canvas has been fixed.  
• Getting stuck on the Make screen after completing the new product setup from that screen has been fixed.
• Fixed an issue for Cricut Joy Xtra causing connection to fail while trying to upgrade firmware after downgrading it.
• Fixed an issue causing Design Space to not connect with a Maker 3 machine for a new user.
• Background Remover in Image Upload Flow – Fixed an issue causing the box / space around the image to be very small in the Manual Background Remover screen when the display window size is reduced.  
• Machine Picker showing “Set Up Machine” button displaying in error after new product setup has just been completed (whether connected via Bluetooth or USB) has been fixed.
• Fixed an issue causing the Offset preview to render behind the image when applying it to overlapping text.
• Cricut Explore 3 losing connection when firmware update is initiated through the machine picker has been fixed.  
• “Preparing Print” panel remaining stuck and appearing on the Canvas even after cancelling the print has been fixed.  
• Fixed a Print Then Cut issue for uploaded SVG files causing the Auto Resize icon to not be removed even after the image is resized.  
• Unload Mat prompt appearing when no mat is loaded has been fixed.  
• Force connect modal automatically routing to the new product setup has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue for Cricut Joy Xtra causing connection to fail while trying to upgrade firmware after downgrading it.  
• Canvas machine picker screen being broken for Cricut Joy 2 and Cricut Explore 5 has been fixed.
• Green loader displaying continuously on moving on Canvas when image is added to the design area has been fixed.  
• “Browse all materials” not working after Print Then Cut scan fails for that mat has been fixed.

This Design Space for Desktop release (v9.78) includes backend improvements and the following features and fixes.  

Improved machine selection  

With this update, whenever machine selection is switched to a different machine, from any location in the app, the app will refresh all machine-specific UI and data, displaying only the content and functionality applicable to that specific machine type.  

Added support for pinned content in notification feed

This update ensures you don’t miss the most important notifications, no matter how much time . The highest priority content and most recent pinned messages will now always appear first in your notifications feed.

• DTF Projects – Fixed an issue causing objects with “Basic Cut” & “Print Then Cut” operation to get added to design area in error upon adding images/shapes/text with multiple clicks.  
• Fixed an issue causing Guided Flow interstitial to not open upon completing new product setup.
• Fixed an issue causing error -47 to occur while updating Cricut Explore 5.  
• Fixed an issue causing no error to appear when USB was disconnected from Cricut Explore 5 during test cut in new product setup.
