This Design Space for Desktop release (v7.40) contains the following features and fixes.
Operation in Layers panel
The Operation Type in Layers panel is back! You can quickly identify which layers are set to Draw, Cut, Foil, Print Then Cut, etc.
You can toggle this functionality off and on through Settings > Canvas:
Spell correction in Projects
Spell correction is now available in Projects search like it is for Images. When you select Projects from the Canvas and perform a search, this feature checks search values for misspellings / mistakes and suggests corrected terms.
Project details and photo component improvements
This new project details layout emphasizes your project photo and provides improved tools for editing your photos so they display as desired.

Subscription status in Settings
You can now view your Cricut Access subscription status directly through Settings! This is visible on the General tab. If you’re subscribed, it’ll show you your next renewal date and provide a hyperlink to manage your subscription. If you’re not subscribed, simply click the provided link at any time to start a new subscription.
Other updates
Combined Projects ribbon
Cricut and Community projects will now appear in a single Projects ribbon instead of separate ribbons when you perform a search on the Home page.
Image Tile default size
Image tiles will default to the smaller size when searching Images, Phrases, and Editable Images from Canvas. However, once you’ve selected the option to view larger tiles (icon in upper right of page), Design Space remembers this selection across Images, Phrases, and Editable Images for the duration of your session. The default is reapplied after logout or page reload.
Fixed field issues
- Cricut project should not have the “inspired by” title
- Auto-resize results in truncated image
- Project Detail photo edit view – zoom and rotate controls should be pinned within view
- What’s New displays wrong release version number
