Design Space for Desktop is set up to make it easy to find the things you love. Quickly switch between browsing for inspiration on the Home page and working on a project on the Canvas.
Along the top of Design Space you will find the following:
Home Tab - From anywhere in Design Space, click the Home tab to return to the Home page where you can find inspiration and search for projects, images, fonts and profiles. (Home tab will be disabled when there is no internet connection.)
Canvas Tab - From anywhere in Design Space, click the Canvas tab to return to the Canvas screen to create and edit a project.
Notifications Bell - Click here to view notifications about people you follow, your new followers, and other notifications.
Settings (Your profile photo and name) - Click here to see links which go to:
- Profile – Your profile page where you can change your profile picture, see your shared projects, followers, and more
- Notifications – Your recent notifications such as new followers or projects from people you follow

Note: On Windows computers, there is also a “More” menu in the upper right – select these three dots to find File, View, and Help, which contain options to open a new Design Space window, Reload or Force Reload Design Space, and get help. On Mac computers, these options are in the upper left of the screen near the Apple menu.
Note: Settings and other functionality are disabled when there is no internet connection.
On the left side of the Home page you can find links to the following:
- Discover – A place to see popular and suggested projects for you.
- My Stuff – Your saved images and projects
- Get Started – Beginner tutorials and walkthroughs for various machines, materials, and projects
- Cricut Learn – Where you can find lessons on how to use your Cricut machine & Design Space
- Heat Guide – Where you can find instructions for heat press projects
- Shop – Go to the Cricut shop
Settings
Design Space settings are grouped into tabs. See more information about available settings below:
- General
- Country – Choose your Country.
- Language – Choose your Language.
- Default Save location – Decide if projects will save to the cloud & computer, or only the cloud by default.
- Application Experience – Switch between using the Beta or regular version of Design Space.
- Subscription – See your Cricut Access subscription status and manage your subscription.

- New Product Setup – Set up and register a new Cricut product.
- Update Firmware – Confirm your product has the latest updates.
- Machine Calibration – Connect to your machine and calibrate it for the best Print Then Cut, Knife Blade, or Rotary Blade accuracy.
- Machine Care - See cleaning instructions for Cricut Venture
- Custom Material Settings – Create your own pressure settings.

Link Cartridges – Link physical cartridges to your Cricut account.

- Canvas grid – Switch between using a full grid, partial grid, or no grid on the Canvas.
- Units – Switch between using Imperial or Metric measurements.

Operation Type - Turn on or off the operation type label in the Layers panel.

- Choose your preferred default Load Type and Print Then Cut Page Size for each machine type.

Where do I find Print Then Cut, Knife-Blade, and Rotary Blade Calibrations?
Calibrations are found in the Design Space menu. Select Settings > Machines, then choose the desired calibration from the drop down.
Where do I find the option to update machine firmware?
You can confirm your product has the latest updates by going to Settings > Machines and selecting Update Firmware.
Where do I find the option to create or change custom material settings?
You can find these options by going to Settings > Machines and selecting Custom Material Settings.
Where do I find the option to set up a new cutting machine or Heat Press?
You can setup a new machine by going to Settings > Machines, and selecting Start next to New Product Setup.
Where do I change my machine selection?
You can still change your machine selection while on the Canvas. You can also change your machine selection through the menu by going to Settings > Machines and choosing your machine from the dropdown.
Where did My Learning Plan go?
Learning Plans are now found under Get Started on the left side navigation panel of the Home screen.
Can I have multiple Canvas tabs open?
Currently, you cannot have multiple Canvas tabs open, but you can still have multiple Design Space projects open at the same time. On Mac computers select File > New Window in the upper left of the screen near the Apple menu. On Windows computers, select the More menu (three dots near the notifications icon), then select File > New Window.
