Design Space Release Notes

This Design Space for Desktop Beta release (v10.4) includes backend improvements and the following features and fixes.  

Note: This section will be updated when this release goes to production.  

Update to Chatbot experience

This update to the Cricut Chatbot in Design Space for Desktop introduces animated state transitions, contextual help labels that adapt to your workflow and help you find the support you need, where you need it. You’ll notice more relevant guidance based on where you are in Design Space, whether you’re starting on Home, designing on Canvas, preparing your project, making it, or assembling the finished pieces.

“Purchase Required” Indicator on Canvas

Design Space now makes it easier to understand what images, fonts, and templates are included, what you own, and what may need to be purchased. On the Canvas, when a selected image, text, or other content isn’t already owned or included with your Cricut Access subscription, a Purchase Required label will appear so you can make informed choices as you design.

Fixed field issues

This release:

• Fixed an issue causing the Cricut Access logo to intermittently not be displayed in Font Picker & Font Panel.  
• Inability to add DTF order with uploaded images to the cart due to the checker modal (CTA missing) has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing a Create AI image inserted from “Saved” tab to not match with the image displayed on the thumbnail in the “Saved” tab.  
• Getting “project preview could not load” error on Canvas when switching the “Keep layout” toggle after changing Material Load Type has been fixed.  

The last 6 weeks:

Over the last 6 weeks we've fixed 46 software defects, including the following priority field issues and reliability concerns:

• Fixed a Create AI issue causing an error about not meeting content standards or copyright to not be removed on clearing the image via the ‘X’ icon.  
• Fixed an issue causing the Curve value input to not retain the manually entered value on first use; it would jump to a different number.
• A Mat Prepare screen being broken issue has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing Image panel not to open again when the user clicks on the Image icon.  
• Fixed an issue with changes to AI Image Style resulting in a blank image on the Canvas.  
• Fixed an issue causing a Card design to automatically move to the 4-card mat when increasing project copies despite the 2-Card mat being set as default.  
• Fixed an infinite loader in the mat preview screen after switching the machine to Joy with R40 size card.  
• Tick mark at ‘0’ missing from the Offset slider has been fixed.  
• Featured fonts not showing for sub-project types has been fixed.  
• Fixed issued causing “Project Preview could not load” error to be displayed on Canvas when Make is clicked before auto-save completes.
• Fixed an issue causing a new AI chat to open in error when editing an AI Project Designer image via the edit option on the shortcut toolbar on the Canvas.
• Getting “Project not saved” message when the internet is disconnected and reconnected has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing “Not Saved” error message when replacing a Template selected from Home page.  
• Machine connection failing when a firmware update is required has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing Design Space app to freeze after the system print dialog times out during a Print Then Cut project.  
• Fixed an issue causing AI styling option to be available for a system font in error.
• Fixed an issue causing a new AI chat to open in error when editing an AI Project Designer image via the edit option on the shortcut toolbar on the Canvas.

• Fixed an issue with card artwork getting split when using the 2-card Card Mat.  
• DTF – Sticker option not working when Joy machine is selected before starting a DTF project has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing AI-generated images from Chat or from history to display with a black fill on the Canvas instead of full color.
• Make screen displaying 4-card mat instead of the selected 2-card mat has been fixed.  
• Issue of not being able to print after removing all printers has been fixed.  
• Machine picker losing machine connection when the laptop went into screen timeout for 10 min has been fixed.
• Fixed an issue in the DTF checkout flow causing the cart to be open briefly, then close, on Home page after closing the cart on Canvas and navigating to the Home page.  
• Fixed an issue causing the firmware update screen to close in error on mat preview page.  
• 2-card card mat displaying for Cricut Maker 3 and Cricut Explore 3 machines in error has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue in Stickers and Labels project flows causing an image to throw “Operation not supported error” and fail to auto-stickerize after applying an offset.
• Fixed an issue causing an object to be placed outside of the cuttable area upon moving it to a new mat after changing material size.  
• Fixed an issue with Create AI panel, which was causing a generated image to not be preserved on the “Generate” tab after clicking the “Saved” tab, then returning to the “Generated” tab; the tab was reverting to the description box instead.
• Shrunken image on “Prepare workspace” step of new product setup has been fixed.
• Fixed an issue causing Text editing to be slow and unresponsive, and causing inability to move or resize text boxes
• Inability to move Text that has used Curve and Sticker, when Sticker panel is open, has been fixed.
• Fixed a project-specific issue that was causing an infinite spinner when loading the project on the mat preview.
• Fixed an issue causing Print Then Cut filtration to not work when navigating to Blank Canvas from Vinyl Decal project flow.
• Fixed an issued causing objects moved on mat preview screen to not default to the original arrangement after navigating back from the Make screen and adding project copies.
• Firmware update getting skipped on Mat preview for Cricut Explore 5 and Cricut Joy 2 has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing a Font tooltip to display a localization key instead of the expected tooltip text.  
• Advanced Search missing on Blank Canvas saved projects has been fixed.
• Non-functional “Got a different press?” tile on Heat Press setup screen has been fixed.  
• Image resolution not being validated upon resizing the image has been fixed.

Added "AI Generated" filter to Canvas Images filter view

This feature adds a filter to the Images panel that allows you to filter for images you have generated through Create AI.

• ‘Operations not supported’ error showing upon replacing a Guided Flow project with a saved Blank Canvas project canvas has been fixed.  
• Sticker option missing in Blank Canvas when navigating from the Folded Card flow has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing the load type to get changed when increasing project copies of text project.  
• Cricut Maker Perforation shapes not displaying on the mat screen has been fixed.
• Fixed an issue causing “Confirm your rights to uploaded images” popup to get displayed after clicking “Add to Cart” for AI images.
• Fixed an issue causing the new project modal to not appear for some users after new product setup.
• Cropped uploaded image not showing properly when added to Canvas has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing Design Space to exit out of new product setup when an offline error occurs during the test cut has been fixed.  
• Machine selector on Home switching back to the connected machine after a different model is selected has been fixed.
