Design Space Release Notes

This Design Space for Desktop Beta release (v9.60) includes backend improvements and the following features and fixes.  

Note: This section will be updated when this release goes to production.

System printer list improvements

With this update we’ve improved printer discovery, so the printer list loads faster and no longer stops responding when a printer isn’t found.

Quick Links clean-up in search from Home and other pages

To simplify the user experience and reduce visual clutter, we have removed these under-utilized quick links from both the Home and other “universal search” bars.

Fixed field issues

This release:

• Fixed an Operation filtering issue where a popover component showed no Operation.
• Fixed a backed issue related to incorrect canvas ids following saving.  
• Save or Don’t Save pop-up not displaying for Blank Canvas projects has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue where AI images displaying “Too Small” warning even after resizing also resulted in being unable to save the project.  

The last 6 weeks:

Over the last 6 weeks we've fixed 50 software defects, including the following priority field issues and reliability concerns:

• Right-click menu for text/image appearing in error when right-clicking on panels has been fixed.
• Fixed an issue causing the out-of-box test cut for Cricut Joy Xtra to not cut on the provided material, and to display incorrect measurements, has been fixed.  
• "Project Incompatible" error displaying for Print Then Cut on clicking "Make" button when user is in Offline mode has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing Print Then Cut fiducials to be incorrectly displayed on sensor marks screen, and print incorrectly as well.  
• Load type selection modal being broken when switching machine type from Cricut Joy to Cricut Joy Xtra in mat preview has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing "Project Incompatible" modal to not appear when clicking Make on a Stickers & Labels project detail page, with Cricut Joy machine.
• Fixed issue causing Mirror tooltip to be away from the Mirror label when using Design Space in Russian language.  
• Project incompatible warning being shown for a compatible project in error has been fixed.
• Fixed an issue causing user to not receive "Connection already in use" prompt when they should.
• Fixed a backend data issue related non-existent functions.
• Fixed an issue causing anchor filter to be missing in Shapes panel filter list.
• Machine connection modal in disconnected state when Firmware Update is needed has been fixed.
• Fixed an issue causing all project types - except Blank Canvas - to get "Project Unavailable" message upon clicking the project name to open the default project after adding a Template.
• Smart Guides not being filtered to the design area (trying to align with objects outside of design area) has been fixed.  
• Empty tiles showing when no results are found in a search query with "Bookmark" & "Upload" filters applied has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing no error message when Insert Card > Customize uses a size not compatible with selected machine.  
• Fixed a backend issue related to Image panel calls occurring repeatedly in error.  
• Checkout page being blank when buying an image set form the Home tab has been fixed.  
• Explore 3 failing to reconnect via Bluetooth after switching connections across multiple Design Space windows has been fixed.  
• Product details page failing to display the "Invalid" design area modal warning for sizes that are not compatible with the selected machine has been fixed.
• Fixed a backend issue causing an unexpected event to appear after a user selects a project type from the project interstitial.
• Fixed an issue in the CAP upload flow causing the artist to be unable to save a project after completing the CAP upload process.  
• Fixed a backend issue resulting in a Canvas UUID mismatch when a particular Canvas Saved event occurs.
• Fixed a backend issue causing a UUID to not change, and another to show as undefined upon customizing a Community project from the Home page.  
• Fixed an issue on the Make screen which allowed an object to be positioned outside cuttable area when rearranging/rotating it.  
• Fixed issue of “Continue” button being disabled after selecting “Without Mat/Card Mat” and selecting the option to apply to all future checkbox in Load Type modal.
• Fixed an issue causing objects placed outside of the Design area on Canvas to appear on the mat preview when clicking Make from the project details page.
• Fixed an issue causing CAP artists to be unable to “Submit for Review” from Edit in Design Space when using Phrase-only subcategory selection.  
• Fixed a backend issue related to guide flow project intents.
• Fixed a backend issue related to Canvas ID changes causing parent canvas id to not populate for subsequent events.  
• Pen and Cut layers becoming misaligned when using Attach or Group functions has been fixed.  
• All load method options being disabled on the material load popup has been fixed.
• Cardstock guided flow performance issue upon duplicating templates has been fixed.  
• Issue causing us to not allow more than 11.75 width design area has been fixed.  
• Issue of Smart Guide lines showing on an image instead of a sticker layer when aligning objects has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing mat preview to be blank when there’s an offset on the mat.
• Issue of applying an offset to a font replacing the font layer and then navigating to the mat preview showing a “Project preview could not load” error has been fixed.

Project Instructions

This update increases the visibility of the project instructions button in guided design flows.  

Upload Panel  

This update moves the full-page Upload screen to a new Upload panel.

Subtract Selection Behavior Improvement

This update makes it easy for users to select and edit Text graphics in a Subtract group.  

Insert Card Project Flow – Default mat size to the selection on project modal

With this feature, when a user creates an Insert Card project with a certain size, then we will have them on that Card Mat size by default on the mat preview instead of the smallest mat their design fits on.  

Item Too Small Warning (Cut Objects)

With this feature, we will display a warning when Cut objects on the Canvas are too small to cut successfully.  

AI Project Designer

This expansion of the Create AI feature allows Cricut Access subscribers to create an AI-generated image via a Chat method. Select the AI Project Designer project button on Home to open the AI Project Designer Chat window. Then, type in your project idea and the AI will help design it. To save an image created by AI Project Designer, choose the option to add it to the Canvas, then save it as a project.  

Note: Create AI credits are used each time an image is generated or edited. Pure text responses do not use Create AI credits.

• Fixed an issue causing an autocompleted address to not be visible to users upon minimizing the Design Space window from the checkout screen.  
• Switching environment from Live to Beta failing or being inconsistent has been fixed.
