Design Space Release Notes

This Design Space for Desktop Beta release (v10.7) includes backend improvements and the following features and fixes.  

Note: This section will be updated when this release goes to production.  

Home page – Expanded left navigation

This update to the Home page causes the left navigation panel to expand by default.  

Template filters in universal search (for cutting machines)

This update enables users on cutting machines to efficiently refine Template results within universal search using filters that preserve search relevance, while improving discoverability of free content and project-intent-specific templates.  

Filter options will be displayed for the project types and their sub project types.  

Template filters on Canvas (for cutting machines)

Improvements in Template search have also been made when searching on Canvas. This update enables users on cutting machines to refine Template results within the Canvas Templates panel using context-aware filters that preserve Template relevance and align filtering behavior to the user’s current Canvas project state.  

Results will show a specific project type filter in the Template Filter section.  

Fixed field issues

This release:

• “Machine Setup Required” popup appearing after every force reload even when the unit is connected has been fixed.  
• Mat preview going blank and artwork not getting rendered after updating project copies has been fixed.  
• Print Then Cut project causing a continuous printer connection loop has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue for StickerPix Print subscribed user causing a la carte purchase items to get hidden and not be scrollable on Checkout Summary screen.  
• Fixed an issue causing the Print Then Cut fiducial marking to not surround all Print Then Cut objects after moving objects on the Preview screen.  
• Fixed an issue causing the Cricut Access icon to be displayed on the Background Removal button.  
• Fixed an issue causing objects to not be consolidated on the mat preview when the project includes large and small objects.  
• Fixed an issue causing Cricut image tiles to display a price in error.  
• For StickerPix machine mode: Fixed an issue causing the Image Panel to open instead of the Background panel after clicking on “Background”.
• Fixed links to Connection Help for StickerPix Print machines.
• Heat Guide link for Brazil landing users on the Distributor site has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing Monogram feature to not work.  
• Chatbot label displaying a lowercase “h” on the Canvas screen has been fixed.  
• Image price continuing to be displayed in the Image panel after purchasing that content has been fixed.  
• “Cart Empty” and Cricut Access warning banners getting displayed on Canvas when clicking “Purchase Required” for a Template has been fixed.  
• For StickerPix machines: Edit Fill being enabled for a Cricut image before any Fill has been applied has been fixed. 
• Objects disappearing when moving a Sticker project Template to another mat has been fixed.  
• Uploaded SVG image not rendering correctly on the Canvas has been fixed.  
• For StickerPix Print + Cut machine: Fixed an issue with some uploaded images where images reverted to original size after resizing them.
• Fixed an issue causing an image to appear flipped in the mat preview after auto-resizing it.  
• Fixed an issue causing “Yellow Butterflies” Sticker and Labels Template to incorrectly report Print Then Cut as Unsupported.  
• For StickerPix Print + Cut: Fixed an issue with Bestie Sticker Sheet causing an image to revert to original size after resizing.  
• Fixed an issue causing Print Then Cut image to go missing in the mat preview when changing the material size and increasing copies.  
• For stickers & labels project: fixed an issue causing an error for Print Then Cut objects to show in the Layers panel and upon clicking the “Make” button.  
• Fixed an issue causing a blank mat preview after clicking Make.  
• Fixed an issue causing the “Basic Cut” tool information to go missing from the Operations menu.
• Fixed a text cursor and selection misalignment issue.
• Fixed an issue causing a machine to get stuck on measuring mat/material and not proceeding to cut.  
• For StickerPix Print: Fixed an issue causing project cards to not take up the full project modal width.  
• Fixed a project-specific issue of blank mat preview screen appearing after clicking “Make.”

Over the last 6 weeks we've fixed 100 software defects, including the following priority field issues and reliability concerns:

• Fixed an issue causing a Print Then Cut image to not be properly restored after applying a Pattern and then reverting it to its original artwork.  
• Fixed a StickerPix Print + Cut Template issue causing Text and its Text Box to appear separate upon editing text for a particular Template.  
• Fixed an issue causing objects placed in Stickers & Labels project to show as “Basic Cut” and “Print Then Cut” in the Mat Prepare left panel.  
• Getting “Unable to apply adjustments” error message after adding a branded image to the Canvas, making adjustments, and clicking outside of the image, has been fixed.  
• Changing material size with Mirror enabled on causing objects to get repositioned when using a project flow has been fixed.  
• Ability to access StickerPix Print + Cut Templates in error after switching to a cutting machine mode has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing the Upload Education banner and “Learn About Uploading” link to be missing for newly onboarded users has been fixed.  
• Delete and Rename options overlapping on the Project Details Page has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing subscriber deals to not be displayed for users with an active subscription, and “Subscribe today” getting shown in the Layers panel had been fixed.  
• Project Help modal getting overlapped and clipped by the top navigation bar has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue in StickerPix Print project causing a “Your stickers are too large – Resize and try again” error to appear instead of “Your sheet is full” when a Template has been applied to the Canvas and the user adds an image, has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing the chatbot questions to not auto-update when the user navigates to a different page while chatbot window is open.  
• Cutting machine banner getting displayed for StickerPix machines in error while clicking “Start Free Trial” where that is hardcoded has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing the Learning Plan deep link to not work anymore.  
• Fixed an issue causing the chatbot to appear in a Design Space window with StickerPix Print + Cut in error after opening a second window that connects to a cutting machine.
• Fixed an issue for StickerPix Print mode causing user to not be able to proceed to Print Preview if the machine is in a disconnected state.  
• Auto-Save stalling during a session and work getting lost on reopening has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue with deeplink causing an Incompatible prompt to appear in the Canvas tab after already dismissing it from the Home tab.  
• Fixed an issued causing a user to be able to add an image on the Canvas when they are in the Background Fill edit mode.  
• Fixed an issue in Offline mode causing downloaded fonts to display empty tiles.  
• Fixed an issue causing Template results to be incorrect when using StickerPix Print and choosing New Project > Photo Stickers > Circle.  
• Incorrect pricing being shown in Cricut Access page and banners for the Basic / Plus experiment has been fixed.  
• Bluetooth permission pre-prompting popup not showing in new product setup when one denies permissions on launch has been fixed.  
• For StickerPix Print – after successful subscription activation or a la carte purchase, Design Space not returning the user to StickerPix Print preview screen has been fixed.  
• Print Then Cut Calibration sheet for Joy 2 and Explore 5 showing a horizontal line above the square has been fixed.  
• For StickerPix machines - “Go” button not resulting in any action upon the first few clicks after canceling from any error screen has been fixed.  
• Machine experiencing a critical error after a test cut forced a repeat of the test cut has been fixed.  
• For StickerPix Print + Cut: Inline Bluetooth permissions warning banner displaying instead of the pre-prompting modal in new product setup has been fixed.
• Keyboard shortcuts for Select All, Cut, Copy, and Paste not working in the details field of Layout tool has been fixed.  
• YouTube video disappearing if user mouses over the video has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing a Template created with content that has a cost being able to be cut for free in error.
• Fixed an issue causing users to not be able to change from 4-card mat to 2-card mat.

This Design Space for Desktop release (v10.5) includes backend improvements and the following features and fixes.   

Update to AI Styles with AI Text edit functionality

With this update, Create AI introduces AI Text edit functionality to the AI Styles panel in the contextual toolbar. This allows users to further enhance images on the Canvas using descriptive text. A text box has been added to the AI panel and lets users apply, deselect, or edit style directly.  

Material Guide improvements

Improvements on the backend for Material guides mean a new step-by-step guide with tabbed material categories.  

Mat Preparation Guide improvements

Similar to the update to the Material Guide, this update provides a new tabbed step-by-step configuration on the Load Tools screen to help users identify and load materials.  

Mat Visualization expansion

This update adds mat visualization to more project flows (formerly, it was available only to Vinyl Decal, Iron-On T-Shirt, and Folded Card flows). You can now find this feature in:

Education visibility on project modal

With this update a collapsible box has been added to the top of the new project selection screen, so it's easy to find when you need it.

• Fixed an issue causing an object to be placed outside of the cuttable area upon moving it to a new mat after changing material size.  
• Fixed an issue with Create AI panel, which was causing a generated image to not be preserved on the “Generate” tab after clicking the “Saved” tab, then returning to the “Generated” tab; the tab was reverting to the description box instead.
• Shrunken image on “Prepare workspace” step of new product setup has been fixed.
• Fixed an issue causing Text editing to be slow and unresponsive, and causing inability to move or resize text boxes
• Inability to move Text that has used Curve and Sticker, when Sticker panel is open, has been fixed.
• Fixed a project-specific issue that was causing an infinite spinner when loading the project on the mat preview.
• Fixed an issue causing Print Then Cut filtration to not work when navigating to Blank Canvas from Vinyl Decal project flow.
• Fixed an issued causing objects moved on mat preview screen to not default to the original arrangement after navigating back from the Make screen and adding project copies.
• Firmware update getting skipped on Mat preview for Cricut Explore 5 and Cricut Joy 2 has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing a Font tooltip to display a localization key instead of the expected tooltip text.  
• Advanced Search missing on Blank Canvas saved projects has been fixed.
