Design Space Release Notes

This Design Space for Desktop Beta release (v9.52) includes backend improvements and the following features and fixes.  

Note: This section will be updated when this release goes to production.

Content Panel Tile Badging

This update brings more clarity to content pricing when viewing the Content Panel. Hover over a badge or click the ellipses menu on a tile for information about whether something is free, included in a Cricut Access subscription, or requires a separate purchase.  

Mac OS: Allow system printing when no printers are found

With this update, users on MacOS will still be able to access their system print dialog if the Design Space printer screen fails to detect available printers.  

Fixed field issues

This release:

• Fixed an issue causing an autocompleted address to not be visible to users upon minimizing the Design Space window from the checkout screen.  
• Switching environment from Live to Beta failing or being inconsistent has been fixed.

Over the last 6 weeks we've fixed 56 software defects, including the following priority field issues and reliability concerns:

• Infinite spinner on uploading large ‘heic’ image file has been fixed.  
• CAP Artist Upload – Infinite spinner on Details has been fixed.  
• Fixed issue causing machine picker to be empty even if there are machines in the Recents section.
• Fixed an issue causing an Error Starting Design Space when navigating from Dev to Alpha build.  
• Image position changing on mat preview upon changing project copies has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing the right panel live preview to not change upon opening a saved project.  
• Fixed an issue with pen / cut alignment in Design Space for Templates and regular uploads for CAP Artists.
• Mat preview not loading while saving a project in Offline mode and trying to make it in Online mode has been fixed.  
• Project Layout and Monogram icon options missing has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing a backend New Product Setup event to not fire when retrying a firmware update.  
• Fixed an issue causing the live preview to not work when updating the Design Area to a not-supported size, then changing it back to a supported size.  
• Fixed an issue causing incorrect mirroring behavior to occur for Attached images on the mat.  
• Fixed an issue causing bounding box and cursor position to be wrong upon editing Ungrouped lines.  
• Text box disappearing when double-clicking to edit text has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue on Mac causing Offline badge to not appear when not connected to the internet, and causing application to close until internet is turned on.
• Fixed an issue causing Recently Used machines to not appear in machine picker if there are no available machines.  
• Fixed an issue causing Undo and Redo options to disappear.  
• Layers panel not opening automatically for Folded Card community project added to Blank Canvas has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue where clicking “Make It” on project details page redirects to a blank Canvas if the previous project has the Font Panel open.  
• Fixed an issue causing a blank mat preview to be displayed when attempting to make a project containing Flatten.
• Fixed an issue causing Slice function to not work with PNG images on Canvas that have a Pattern applied.Fixed an issue causing bookmarked projects to not get added to newly created or old Collections.  
• Issue of initial Warp getting applied by default on the next selection after Warp is undone for the second time on multiple images.  
• Fixed an issue causing Folded Card/Insert Card dimensions to not be reflected until we force reload upon changing units.  
• Fixed an issue causing Chatbot bubble to disappear from Mat preview when clicking “Customize” / “Make It” / “Edit a copy” from Project Details Page.

• Fixed an issue causing the mouse pointer to switch inconsistently between the default cursor and the hand pointer when the mouse hovers over areas of the chatbot outside the question mark.  
• Fixed issue of “Save & Replace” button missing from the popup modal which is triggered after changing mature content settings.  
• Issue of getting Save/Replace popup if user clicks Cancel in Load Type modal has been fixed.  
• Fixed issue causing one to be redirected to blank Canvas after clicking “Make It” on a shared project, instead of proceeding directly to the Mat preview as expected.  
• Mat size options being greyed out when “On Mat” option is selected has been fixed.
• New product setup project modal not filtering tools based on machine has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing the Connection troubleshooting option to show even when the same machine connection is changed from USB to Bluetooth or vice versa.  
• The applied color not being highlighted on the color palette has been resolved.  
• Fixed an issue with USB connected machines being unable to reconnect to Design Space if powered on after Design Space is opened.  
• Fixed an issue with machine picker where if no devices are found when Design Space launches, it doesn’t “refresh”.  
• Fixed issue of making a project becoming unrecoverable if connection is lost on the Make screen.  
• Bluetooth disable dialog showing when connecting to a machine on a second window has been fixed.  
• Issue of adding an image to a new Collection while uploading causes an empty Collection to be created has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue with card project where a Draw image appears incorrect on Make screen.  
• Fixed some issues related to Print Then Cut Calibration.  
• Fixed a Print Then Cut issue where the print image was appearing too small in the preview.
• Fixed an issue with some Explore machines not recognizing when Cardstock is selected.
• Reopening a saved sticker project throwing an “Operations not supported” modal after saving project has been fixed.  
• Changing a Template only giving option to “Save As” instead of both “Save” and “Save As” options has been fixed.
• Single-layer uploaded images not showing properly on Canvas has been fixed.  
• Checkout button getting enabled instead of Continue button on Mat preview screen has been fixed.

This Design Space for Desktop release (v9.48) includes back end improvements and the following features and fixes.  

Preview Improvements

This update allows users to change the color of the blank in the live preview in order to better visualize the finished project. Simply click the ‘+’ to choose a color from the palette or advanced color picker.

• Fixed a translation issue related to the project picker, causing it to break until Design Space is refreshed.
• Fixed a backend issue related to bridge processes not getting removed on reload when there’s a conflicting new process.  
• Fixed an issue causing text to not be visible on Canvas despite appearing in Layers panel.
• Insert dropdown not displaying while relaunching Design Space with an unsaved project flow canvas has been fixed.  
• A canvas insert issue causing translation to not happen until the user reloads Design Space has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing the incorrect project type to show in “Added to canvas” toaster message that gets triggered when adding multiple images from different pages to a project flow canvas.  
• Pause screen displaying instead of Cut Progress screen after pausing and resuming the cut has been fixed.  
• Issue of Chatbot continually opening when clicking on some menus on Design Space Home page has been fixed.  
• “Keep Layout” toggle not showing on mat preview page for “Cardstock” project type has been fixed.  
• Hide Canvas tab not activating after adding images has been fixed.  
• Fixed issue causing “Save As” to be the only option – instead of both “Save” and “Save As” – when changing Templates.
• Fixed an issue causing the Curve label to overlap with Design Space Settings screen modal.  
• Fixed an issue causing images in the Folded Card flow to get added to the design area with inconsistent placement.
• Fixed an issue causing some Print Then Cut material sizing problems.  
• Chatbot pop-up message getting hidden on Mat Prepare page has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing project to get duplicated while trying to save after relaunching Design Space with unsaved changes.  
• Fixed an issue causing the bottom padding of the Machine Picker’s “Force Connection” modal to get cut off.  
• Issue of missing translations for Load Type dropdown on mat preview page has been fixed.
• Issue with no error message showing when Knife Blade gets stuck has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing a user to receive “project incompatible” pop-up when the project is actually compatible.  
• Resolved issue causing spinner on Set Base Material to occur when machine is not already connected when we send a Print Then Cut project to the Make screen.
• For project flows that automatically open the Image panel, fixed an issue causing the panel to not respond with content specific to the selected project type.  
• Fixed an issue causing the Chatbot bubble to disappear on mat preview when clicking “Customize/Make It/Edit a copy” from project detail page.  
• Fixed an issue causing users to not receive the “The blade is stuck” message modal with instructions on how to resume project when Knife Blade gets stuck.  
• Issue of using Slice with a Print Then Cut layer on Canvas causes project to break has been fixed.  
• Chatbot continually opening when click on some menus on Design Space Canvas has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing “Save” option to get disable for first time while trying to save a template when logged in as a Contributing Artist.  
• “Continue” button being disabled after selecting “Card Mat” and selecting checkbox to apply setting to all future loads in Load Type modal has been fixed.  
• Fixed an image inserted Canvas ID issue.  
• Fixed an issue with Pattern fill getting distorted after slicing an object.  
• Issue of Print Then Cut project displaying an error and producing a blank page when printing the project has been fixed.  
• Issue causing bitmap fill to take 4-5 seconds to display has been fixed.  
• Issue of Slicing a Pattern always slicing from the middle of the pattern has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing non-registered machines to get auto-connected for a newly created account.  
• Snap to Align guides not working on changing the Canvas grid has been fixed.  
• Issue of Smart Guide lines showing on the Canvas when uploading images, even though Smart Guides are off in Settings, has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing design area toaster message to display in error while opening a certain project flow for the first time after login.
• Fixed a backend ID mismatch issue for right panel Preview event.  
• Resolved an issue causing side bar to show all tools in error.  
• A backend issue with an experiment not logging data has been resolved.  
• Fixed an issue causing an extra digit to get added when entering decimal values in size fields.  
• Plot builder spinner stopped working – this has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue with real user monitoring sessions not working for employees.
• Fixed an issue causing context menu to auto-populate whenever a user switched back to the Canvas from any page.  
• Live Preview modal showing for Folded Cards even though there is no artboard for that flow.  
• Fixed an issue related to Image Insert events picking up wrong Canvas ID.
• Manual Edits message for reverting original Material size and Load type needed updating, and this has been updated.  
• Fixed an issue causing Print Then Cut image not to be resized to fit within bounds of the design area when performing Auto-Resize, even if the design area is smaller than allowable Print Then Cut size, and even though we are cropping the image if it extends outside of the design area.
• Fixed an issue causing size options to display for Card Mat and Without Mat load types.
