- Determine if the roller bar is loose, damaged, or uneven. If the roller bar is loose, damaged, or uneven, take a photo or video of damage and contact Member Care through one of the options below for further assistance. If the roller bar is not loose, damaged, or uneven, proceed to 2.
- Ensure that a cartridge is loaded in the machine, as the Load Mat button may not function if a cartridge is not loaded. If there is a cartridge in the machine, proceed to 3.
- Press the Unload Mat button and then press the Load Mat button. The Cricut may think that the mat is already loaded in the machine. If this does not help, proceed to 4.
- Press the Reset All button to clear all commands and then press the Load Mat button again. If this does not help, proceed to 5.
- Ensure the mat is lined up with the guides on the machine and the edge of the mat is under the roller bar prior to pressing the Load Mat button. If it is, and the mat still won't load, proceed to 6.
- Apply light pressure to the mat by gently pushing the mat under the roller bar when the bar starts rolling. If this does not help, proceed to 7.
- Try using a different cartridge. If the mat will load with a different cartridge, please contact Member Care through one of the options below for further assistance with the cartridge with which it will not load. If the mat will not load with other cartridges, proceed to 8.
- Perform a Hard Reset on the machine.
- If the mat still won’t load, please contact Member Care through one of the options below for further assistance.
Cricut Expression 2
- Ensure that the Load Mat option is lit up and not greyed out. You must have an image on the mat in order to load the mat.
- Do the roller bars roll when the machine is powered up? Can you get to the main mat screen? If not, please contact Member Care for further assistance. If the bars do roll startup and you can get to the main mat screen, proceed to 3.
- Press the Unload Mat button and then press the Load Mat button again. The Cricut may think that the mat is already loaded in the machine. If this does not help, please contact Member Care for further assistance.
Cricut Imagine

You must use the Imagine Mats, which are white around the edges with black register lines; the Imagine machine is unable to read any other mats. If you are using the correct mat, please contact Member Care through one of the options below for further assistance.
