Why do I need to turn Mirror on in Design Space when cutting iron-on materials?
Most iron-on material comes adhered to a shiny, clear, heat-resistant liner that protects your design during the heat-transfer process. It is necessary to position the material liner-side down so your machine can cut your design and leave the liner intact. For this reason, you need to mirror your design in Design Space before cutting. Otherwise, your design will appear backward on your base material (especially important if your design includes text).
How to mirror in Design Space
Select a platform below to view step-by-step instructions.
- When you have finished customizing your design and you are ready to cut, click Make It to proceed to project preview.
- For each load type with design elements intended for heat transfer, toggle the Mirror switch on.
- Select Continue to complete your cut.
- If you forget to mirror, Design Space will remind you when you select any heat-transfer material setting.
- Select Edit, toggle Mirror on, and select Done. Repeat for each load type as needed.
- You are ready to cut!
- When you have finished customizing your design and you are ready to cut, select Make It.
- For each load type with design elements intended for heat transfer, toggle the Mirror switch on.
- Tap the icon in the upper left corner again to dismiss the list of loads. Then tap Continue to proceed.
- If you forget to mirror, Design Space will remind you when you select any heat-transfer material setting.
- Cancel the cut to return to the project preview. Then, select the icon in the upper left corner, select a load type, and toggle Mirror on. Repeat for each load type as needed. When done, tap the icon in the upper left corner to dismiss the Edit window.
- Select Continue to proceed to cut!
Important: You must turn Mirror on for each load type individually. At this time, it is not possible to mirror multiple at once.
