What are the tips for successful transfers with Cricut EasyPress?
For perfect transfers that last, three things are key:
- A firm, even surface
- Ironing boards and plastic tables have some give in them which does not provide the firm, even surface needed for successful transfers.

Doesn’t iron-on (HTV) need a lot of pressure?
We’ve found that iron-on (HTV), or heat transfer vinyl, needs even heat and a little pressure. Every Cricut EasyPress product delivers even heat, and you control the amount of pressure. For long-lasting transfers, a combination of heat, pressure, and time is needed. The balance of these items is what gives successful results. The even heat of Cricut EasyPress requires very little pressure. Use our recommended settings in this online Heat Guide or the Cricut Heat app (for Cricut EasyPress 3) for best results.
How hard do I have to press?
Some applications call for "gentle" pressure, and some call for "firm" pressure.
- Firm pressure means press down with two hands and 15-20 lbs. of body weight.
- Gentle pressure means one hand with 5-10 lbs. of body weight.
In all cases, a waist-high table is recommended for ease in applying the recommended pressure.
Do I need to put the heat on the back of the project as well?
Yes. For best results, we recommend applying heat to the back of the image for 10-15 seconds. Refer to this online Heat Guide or the Cricut Heat app (for Cricut EasyPress 3) for more information.
Does the Cricut EasyPress need to be pressed in one spot or do I move it around (like an iron)?
For best results, gently press Cricut EasyPress in one spot for the recommended amount of time. If your iron-on image is larger than the heat plate, cover as much of the image as possible and press for the recommended time. Then, move the press over with a small overlap and press on the rest of the image for the recommended time. Moving the press around while applying the iron-on design may result in warping or smearing the design while the iron-on film is in its softened state. Infusible Ink designs should always be smaller than the heat plate and receive a single application of heat – do not press Infusible Ink designs in sections as this may result in unwanted effects.
