Use a Template to help you visualize your final project! Select a platform below for step-by-step instructions.
- Select the Templates tool in the Design panel to the left of the Canvas.
- Select a category then choose the layout guide for the size that best matches your project needs.
Note: To access the former version of Templates, click "Legacy Templates" at the bottom of the Templates panel. This option is available only in Design Space for Desktop.
- Layout guides will appear on the Canvas. These guides also appear in the Layers panel and you can rename, move, hide, duplicate, or delete them the same way you can with any other object in the Layers panel. Zoom in or out on the Canvas as needed.
Tip: These templates render on the Canvas with the "Guide" operation, and will not get sent to the machine when you click "Make". While you can hide or delete them, it is not required. Additionally, when you save your project, the template will save with your project unless you delete it.
- To dismiss the Templates panel, select Templates again, or click on the arrow.
- Add images and text to the Canvas to create your design, using the template as a reference. You can use all image editing tools as usual to create your design.
- When you're ready to make your design, click "Make." Notice that the Template does not get sent to the machine.
Visualize with a background color
- To visualize your design on a background color, you can change the color of the Canvas. To do this, select "Blank Canvas" where it appears at the bottom of the Layers panel.
- Select the color swatch that appears at the top of the Canvas. Then, select a color from the basic colors palette, enter a hex code for the color you want, or use the sliders to select a color from the custom color picker. The Canvas will change to reflect your selection.
Tip: You can easily hide Canvas gridlines as needed by clicking in the top left corner where the Canvas rulers intersect. You can also hide the template as needed by clicking on the hide icon next to it in the Layers panel.
- To remove the Canvas color, simply repeat the process, choosing white for the color. Canvas color does not save with projects. It will default back to white when a project is closed.
- Select the Templates tool in the lower right of the screen.
