What is Design Space for desktop and why didn't I get an email about access?
This is a downloadable version of Design Space that lives on your desktop. With this desktop version the communication between Design Space and your machines will be more direct, fast, and stable. Creating a solid Design Space experience on desktop is also another step for Cricut to launch offline because you will need to download the desktop app to get offline.
Design Space for Desktop is currently in beta, meaning it’s not ready yet for our entire member base. We want to make sure that when we let everyone know about it, you get the best experience possible. We appreciate your patience as we test the program and we will keep you posted when it is out of beta.
When will Cricut officially announce Offline?
Design Space for desktop will have offline capabilities by the end of 2019. The Cricut team is hard at work to get offline functionality ready to release. Please stay tuned as we will be updating our members with more details on when and how we will be gin rolling out Design Space offline.
When will the app go live?
Design Space for Desktop is set to be released in beta to our entire member base by the end of the year, and the Cricut team will continue to keep members updated on any improvements made to the Desktop Application as they occur, including taking the App out of beta.
What does open beta mean?
Design Space for Desktop Beta will be released to our member base to use at their discretion. By downloading and using the app, our members are assisting us in an open environment to test and improve the software as we go.
What are the big benefits of moving?
The communication between Design Space and the machines will be more direct, fast, and stable. The software will be less prone to crashes. You won’t need to deal with downloading the plugin as it is wrapped in the software and will auto-update.
When will offline happen?
It is absolutely going to be available by the end of the year in 2019. The Cricut team is hard at work to get offline functionality ready to release. Please stay tuned as we will be updating our members with more details on when and how we will begin rolling out Design Space Offline.
Are you going to kill the web version?
We have not arrived at the decision yet and will keep all of our members informed if we do.
Will my Cricut Access subscription work?
Yes. Any Cricut Access subscription will absolutely work within the Desktop version of Design Space.
Will my images/cartridges, fonts, and projects work?
Yes. Members will have access to all of their linked cartridges, purchased images and fonts, uploaded images, and projects saved to the cloud.
Will I need to be online?
Yes. An internet connection is required until we release our offline functionality.
Will this auto-update?
Yes. The Design Space for Desktop App will auto-update with any improvements as they occur as long as members use the software while online.
Can I still use Design Space in a browser?
Yes. To use Design Space in a browser, navigate to design.cricut.com
Will this affect the use of the mobile apps?
No. This will not affect the use of Design Space on iOS or Android.
Will my account/sign-in work?
Yes. The same Cricut ID and password must be used to sign in to all Design Space platforms.
Can I still purchase digital content through the Design Space Desktop App Beta?
Yes. Shopping for digital content is absolutely enabled through the desktop app beta, the same way you would through Design Space in a browser. Purchasing through the desktop app beta is only available for the US, Canada, and UK regions.
Will there be banners?
Yes. Design Space Home screen banners and other notifications will appear the same in the desktop app beta as they do in a browser.
Can this application be used internationally?
Yes. Purchasing through the desktop app beta, however, is only available for the US, Canada, and UK regions, and the app will be only in English at this time.
Will this application be translated?
No. At this time the desktop app beta will be in English.
Will it change how I cut on my machines?
The project making flow is the same. It will just make it faster, more stable, and more direct.
Can I still use more than one tab/window?
Yes. However, your machine can connect to just one window at a time.
Can I still cut with more than one machine?
Yes. Cutting to more than one machine is possible through multiple windows of the desktop app beta; one window per machine.
Can I still use Bluetooth?
