What is the Cricut Joy app and what can I make with it?
The Cricut Joy app is a guided design experience for simple and quick single-material projects like insert cards, labels, paper crafts, stickers & iron-on transfers. We plan to add more features in the future.
System, Devices, and Machine Compatibility
What are the system requirements for the Cricut Joy app?
iOS
- Optimized for use on mobile phones with iOS 14 or higher
- You can use the app on an iPad, but it has not been optimized for the iPad layout.

- Optimized for use on mobile phones with Android 9.0 (Pie) or higher

Is the Cricut Joy app available for Android?
Yes! You can download it from the Google Play store and try it now!
Will the Cricut Joy app work with other Cricut machines?
No. The Cricut Joy app was designed specifically for Cricut Joy. It does not support Cricut Explore, Cricut Maker, Cricut Venture, or Cricut Joy Xtra machines.
Can I use Cricut Joy Xtra with the Cricut Joy app?
No. The Cricut Joy app does not work with Cricut Joy Xtra. Design Space, our full-featured design experience is the app for Cricut Joy Xtra.
Why is the Cricut Joy app not available for Cricut Joy Xtra owners?
Design Space, our full-featured app, is available for Cricut Joy Xtra owners on both mobile devices and computers. Design Space will allow Cricut Joy Xtra owners to get the most out of their machines including the ability to make stickers (the Cricut Joy app does not support Print Then Cut functionality).
Is the Cricut Joy app available in multiple languages?
Yes, the Cricut Joy app is currently supported in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, and Portuguese. You can set your language in your device system settings.
Subscription/Content
Do I need a Cricut Access subscription to use the Cricut Joy app?
The app is free to download, and there is a small body of free fonts and images in the app, including a selection of compatible fonts from your phone. Fonts and images in the app which are marked with the Cricut Access 'a' icon require a Cricut Access subscription to use.
If I purchase a Cricut Access subscription through the Cricut Joy app, does it also work with Design Space, and vice versa?
Yes, purchasing a Cricut Access subscription through the Cricut Joy app enables Cricut Access benefits across all our software experiences including Design Space for Desktop and Mobile, as well as our Shop site. If you have already purchased a Cricut Access subscription through Design Space or our Shop site, it is automatically enabled in the Cricut Joy app.
What kinds of content will I find in the Cricut Joy app?
All Cricut Access content that is single layer is available in the Cricut Joy app. Single layer content is cut from a single sheet of material. You’ll have access to a large library of card projects, labels, images, shapes, and fonts, including a selection of compatible fonts from your phone.
What does the ‘a’ icon in the font and image libraries mean?
When you see it means that the image or font is included in the Cricut Access library. You'll need a Cricut Access subscription in order to use that content.
Can I use images from Disney or other licensed brands?
At this time, content from licensed partners like Disney, Star Wars, and Marvel is not available in the Cricut Joy app.
Can I upload my own images or fonts?
You can now upload your own single-layer SVG files for use in "design your own" project flows! Select My Stuff > Upload SVG, or select the upload icon () in your project Edit screen. Then browse your device for your saved SVG files. Once you've uploaded an SVG to the Cricut Joy app, you'll have the option to select from uploaded images when designing projects.
Currently you cannot upload your own fonts to the Cricut Joy app.
Projects
Can I use the Cricut Joy app to make Insert Cards?
Absolutely! Hundreds of ready-to-make Insert Card designs are available in the app so you can DIY the perfect card in no time!
Can I save projects in the Cricut Joy app?
The Cricut Joy app will auto-save projects as you design them. Whenever you exit a project, you will get a prompt to save the project to My Stuff. Access your saved projects from Home > My Stuff.
Note: Quick Labels projects cannot be saved at this time.
Will my projects and images saved in the Cricut Joy app be available in Design Space? Can I save my projects in the Cricut Joy app into Design Space?
No, these are two separate apps, and it is not possible to share projects or images across these two platforms.
Can I make projects with Infusible Ink Pens & Markers in the Cricut Joy app?
For now, use Design Space to work with Infusible Ink Pens & Markers.
Can I make projects with multiple layers in the Cricut Joy app?
The Cricut Joy app is for single-layer/single-material designs. For more complex projects that require multiple layers, colors, and/or materials, use Design Space.
Can I share my projects with other members of the Cricut community?
Currently, you cannot share projects in the Cricut Joy app.
