Follow the guidelines below to safely move and store Cricut Autopress.
Transit Lock
The transit lock on Cricut Autopress is found on the right side of the machine, near the power button. While this lock should never be engaged while pressing, it should be engaged when the press is not in use, and when the press is being moved.
Icons on the lock switch help you know which way to press it to engage or disengage the lock. Press toward the front of the press to engage, press toward the back of the machine to disengage.
What does the lock do?
The lock holds the press closed, so the heat plate doesn’t swing open while you’re trying to move or store the press.
Can I lock Cricut Autopress while it cools down?
Absolutely! Once you’ve powered off the press, you can lower the heat plate and engage the lock. No need to wait for the press to cool before engaging the lock.
Moving Cricut Autopress
Cricut Autopress is heavy – 53.2 lbs (24.13 kg) – so we recommend a two-person lift when lifting or moving it. Its sturdy steel construction makes it safe to lift via the handle on the front of the machine and the handhold on the back of the machine.
Before moving Cricut Autopress:
- lower the heat plate and engage the transit lock
- disconnect control pod, power cables, and USB cables from the press so they’re out of the way.
Storing Cricut Autopress
Cricut Autopress should be stored indoors in a place where it will not be exposed to extreme temperatures.
It may be stored flat on your counter, or you may store it vertically, resting upright on the back of the machine.
Before storing Cricut Autopress:
- lower the heat plate and engage the transit lock
- disconnect control pod, power cables, and USB cables from the press, so they’re out of the way.
