To help you more easily keep track of the design elements in your project, you can rename objects or groups of objects in the Design Space Layers panel, change the order of groups or layers in the Layers panel, and even move layers into or between groups! Select a link or platform below to learn more.
Note: This functionality is currently available in Design Space for Desktop and Design Space for iOS only.
Moving layers to change order
To move a layer or group in the Layers panel:
Click and drag layer to the desired location. A guide line indicates where the item will land when you release it.
To move a layer or group in the Layers panel:
- Select Layers > Edit.
- Tap on the lines next to the layer you wish to move, and drag it to the desired location. A guide line indicates where the item will land when you release it. When you're done moving layers, tap Done to return to Canvas.
Moving layers into or between groups
When you move a layer into or between groups, it takes on the properties of that group. For instance, in the example below, we want to cut the whole design as it is from a single piece of material, so we need the "boo" layer to become attached to the "Hey" and ghost objects, which are already part of an attached group.
If we drag the "boo" layer into that attached group, it automatically becomes attached to the other objects in the group, and will cut out together with the rest of the design exactly as it is arranged on the Canvas.
Renaming layers
To rename a layer, simply double-click on any group or layer name in the Layers panel to open an editable text field. Type the new name, then press Enter or click outside of the panel to confirm the change.
The option to rename is also found in the right-click menu. Right-click on a layer or group in the Layers panel, and select Rename.
To rename a layer, select Layers > Edit (upper right), then select the edit icon next to the layer you wish to rename.
When finished select Save, then Done to return to Canvas.
