This Design Space for Desktop release (v9.63) includes backend improvements and the following features and fixes.  

AI Project Designer Chat — Revert Image

This improvement to AI Project Designer allows users to revisit and re-edit previously generated images in the AI Project Designer chat. The Re-edit option is available only when the chat includes more than one generated image.

 

AI Project Designer — Chat History

With this update, users can view AI Project Designer chat history. Chat history is read-only, but any generated images in the chat can still be added to the Canvas.  

 

AI Project Designer —  Add multiple Images to the same Canvas

This update to AI Project Designer lets users add multiple generated images from one chat to the same Canvas (instead of a new Canvas opening each time “Edit on Canvas” is selected).  

 

Fixed field issues

This release:

• Contributing Artists upload image details getting reset after navigating from Mat preview page has been fixed.
• Fixed an issue causing the size interstitial to not get displayed for any guided project flow after clicking back from Cardstock size interstitial.
• Fixed an issue causing Stickers & Labels project modal to show size boxes after clicking “Back” when Cricut Joy 2 machine is selected.
• Fixed an issue causing the Canvas to not get replaced with a new Canvas upon creating a New Project from the Canvas “New” button, also causing no new project types to get created after choosing them from the Home screen.
• Project type options not visible on the project selection modal when screen size is very small has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing the Image panel to not open after choosing the “Blank Canvas” project, also causing no project type to get created after we manually open the Image panel.  
• Image disappearing from Canvas but remaining visible in the Layers panel after applying and reverting Contour has been fixed.  
• Fixed an issue causing “Setup machine” button to not get displayed on Mat preview screen when it should.

Over the last 6 weeks we've fixed 59 software defects, including the following priority field issues and reliability concerns:

• Template title throwing “project unavailable” error message has been fixed.  
• DTF project flow – Pattern fill getting removed when copy/pasting pattern-filled image onto a DTF project Canvas has been fixed.  
• Footer of project selection modal getting hidden when in a smaller viewport has been fixed.
• Issue of green loader displaying continuously upon moving an image on Canvas once it has been added to the design area has been fixed.  
• Issue of checkout screen remaining blank while system fetches certain APIs has been fixed.  
• An issue causing live preview to not work has been fixed.  
• Sticker & Labels project: Mat selection being greyed out for Cricut Joy Xtra machines has been fixed.  
• Stickers & Labels project: Issue causing “Project preview could not load” message if images are partially placed outside the design area has been fixed.  
• “Connection failed” in Machine Picker - and unable to reconnect - after cancelling the new product setup has been fixed.  
• Templates panel not showing any templates – just loading ghost tiles – after saving any project with a template has been fixed.  
• Template dashboard showing empty tab name and empty column headers when in a non-English language has been fixed.  
• Issue causing “invalid design area size” message to NOT display when clicking “Make” from project details page, when design area size is not compatible with selected machine, has been fixed.

Auto Connection Improvements

Currently, Design Space will attempt to connect to the last used machine when starting up. If that attempt fails, now Design Space will continue trying to connect to that machine until it succeeds, or until a different machine is selected.  

 

Connection Improvements between New Product Setup and Machine Picker

Machine connection in New Product Setup has been updated to provide more stability when connecting to a machine, and to ensure the machine stays connected after setup is complete.

 

Continue button added to New Product Setup “Prepare workspace” screen

We’ve added a “Continue” button to the “Prepare workspace” screen of New Product Setup, which can be used to move to the next page as an alternative to clicking the arrow.  

 

Toolbar Improvements

This update is to improve the usability and appearance of the Design Space for Desktop toolbar. Changes include tools back on top of the Canvas, clearer icons, better tool organization, and a more streamlined user experience.

This update increases the visibility of the Project Instructions button in guided project flows.

This feature displays an image guide to assist users with finding the right image for their project.

 

New product setup: Update to project selection modal

This update changes the titles of expanded project views to “Recommended supplies for your [project type].”

 

Tooltips and titles education

This update adds tool tips, titles, and shortcut keys when available.

With this update, if a search in the Templates panel return very few or zero results, we will display some related images in the Templates panel near a Search All Images link.

Direct-To-Film checkout flow update

This update simplifies the DTF checkout flow by enabling the “mini cart” on the Home or Canvas tab for DTF projects. When users navigate to the DTF flow, add images or text and click on “Add to cart” this new mini cart will appear within Design Space.  

Note: DTF Transfer guide flow currently available only in the U.S.

 

New Product Setup update

To encourage users to complete the test cut during new product setup, we’ve added a screen to help users understand that the material they need for this test cut is included in the box with their machine.  

 

Chatbot introduction in new product setup

This update adds a dedicated page for introducing the Chatbot during new product setup.

 

Live Preview update: Design area reference

This update to Live Preview helps users to understand the scale of their design size in context of their selected blank size.  

 

New option: Milestones

This new option in the left panel on Home opens a banner of achievements. Track your progress, unlock badges, and celebrate what you’ve accomplished.

System printer list improvements

With this update we’ve improved printer discovery, so the printer list loads faster and no longer stops responding when a printer isn’t found.

Automatic Background Remover update

With this update we’ve refreshed the background remover experience to simplify the flow, improve clarity for both Cricut Access subscribers and those who are not subscribers, and to ensure the user experience is consistent across Design Space for Desktop, iOS, and Android, while maintaining platform-specific UI conventions.

Project Instructions

This update increases the visibility of the project instructions button in guided design flows.  

 

Upload Panel  

This update moves the full-page Upload screen to a new Upload panel.

 

Subtract Selection Behavior Improvement

This update makes it easy for users to select and edit Text graphics in a Subtract group.  

 

Insert Card Project Flow – Default mat size to the selection on project modal

With this feature, when a user creates an Insert Card project with a certain size, then we will have them on that Card Mat size by default on the mat preview instead of the smallest mat their design fits on.  

 

Item Too Small Warning (Cut Objects)

With this feature, we will display a warning when Cut objects on the Canvas are too small to cut successfully.  

 

AI Project Designer

This expansion of the Create AI feature allows Cricut Access subscribers to create an AI-generated image via a Chat method. Select the AI Project Designer project button on Home to open the AI Project Designer Chat window. Then, type in your project idea and the AI will help design it. To save an image created by AI Project Designer, choose the option to add it to the Canvas, then save it as a project.  

Note: Create AI credits are used each time an image is generated or edited. Pure text responses do not use Create AI credits.

Right click menu revamp

The right click menu has been optimized, with tools in sections that make sense, so it’s easier to find what you’re looking for.

1. Adaptive Actions: Displays smart, situation-specific tools to speed up editing.
2. Foundational Actions: Provides essential, frequently used quick edit commands that you expect to find in the right click menu. Some tools in this section will always be there; others are dynamic based on the actions that are possible with the objects that are selected.
3. Reserved Actions: Places less-used, advanced, or potentially high-impact tools in a place where one is less likely to active them accidentally.

Create AI Full-Color Print Then Cut Styles

This update adds a new Style in the Create AI panel! When you choose a Print Then Cut style in Create AI, the image generated will be in full color and will insert onto the Cavnas as a full color image.

This update brings more clarity to content pricing when viewing the Content Panel. Hover over a badge or click the ellipses menu on a tile for information about whether something is free, included in a Cricut Access subscription, or requires a separate purchase.

With this update, users on MacOS will still be able to access their system print dialog if the Design Space printer screen fails to detect available printers.

Multi-window connection management

If your machine is already connected to Design Space in one window, and you try to connect your machine in another Design Space window, you’ll see the message “Connection Already in Use.” To switch the connection to this new window, click Continue. Your machine will automatically disconnect from the previous window.

 

Chatbot bubble placement

We’ve adjusted Chatbot so it will remain in the bottom right corner of the screen and is no longer movable. When needed, it will move up or left to not overlap any buttons.  

 

Layers panel update

With this update, users can select multiple layers in the Layers panel and drag and drop them to the top, bottom, middle, or any other position in the list, with one exception: Users cannot drag and drop layers into a Sticker layer. However, any objects within a Sticker layer may be dragged and dropped outside of the Sticker group.

Merge Sticker  

This new feature allows users to quickly join 2 or more objects into a single sticker (one of the selected objects must already be a sticker). Merge Sticker is available for all Canvas types. After a Merge action has been completed, the stickers will be placed under a “Sticker” parent layer in the Layers panel.

Ability to remove machine from Machine Picker and Settings

This update adds the ability to remove a machine from the My Machine list in the machine picker. Simply right click, then select “Remove.”

 

Machine Picker – Hide Icon on Home

To help remove some confusion, the Machine Picker icon has been removed from the top navigation when on the Home page. The icon will become available when in the Canvas tab, and Machine Picker is always available in Settings.

 

Machine Picker – Recently Seen and “Other Machines”

Update to Test Cut Screens

Many of the screens in the test cut flow have been updated to provide better instructions and explanations. For example:

Prepare for cut: Insert the sheet under the guides until it reaches the rollers. Then, press the flashing Load/Unload button. The machine will grasp, then measure the sheet.

Click Go: When you’re ready, click Go to begin cutting.

Cutting your decal: The machine takes a few seconds to confirm everything is in place.

 

Assembly Instructions Update

When assembly instructions appear after completing the cutting step of a project, a new video button will be displayed if an assembly video is available for that project. Clicking the button will open and begin playing the video.

 

Cricut Access Hub Update

If a member was offered and accepted a Cricut Access promotion, a new banner indicating the status of that promotion now appears in the Cricut Access hub.

 

Live Preview Update

In project flows that include Live Preview, it will open automatically when an object is placed on the Canvas. It can also be dragged and can be expanded as needed.

 

Merge Sticker

This new feature allows users to quickly join 2 or more objects into a single sticker (one of the selected objects must already be a sticker). Merge Sticker is available for all Canvas types.

Add Heat Guide to New Product Setup

A new selection has been added to the Heat Press selection page of New Product Setup, which opens our Heat Guide website.

 

Templates Panel Update

With this update, if there are no Template results for a particular search word, we will surface an option to search images instead.

 

Recommendations Ribbon

With this update, when a new image is added to the Canvas, the “Similar Images” ribbon will display images related to that new image just placed on the Canvas.

 

Hide the “My Machine” Introduction

This update hides the “My Machine” tip to prevent annoyance caused by too-frequent appearances.

 

Zoom to fit

This update adds a “zoom to fit” button to the Canvas to provide users a quick one-click way to return to a default, recentered view of their workspace.

 

Update to ‘Replace Project’ Messaging

This update makes the “replace project” messaging and call-to-action experience consistent across Design Space platforms.

 

Machine Picker > New Product Setup

With this update, when Product Setup is initiated from the machine picker, the test cut will be skipped; instead, Design Space will return the Canvas or Mat Preview once the setup is complete.
