Convert writing style fonts and images with a Write line type into Print Then Cut objects! You can either print them on a background shape or print them without a background shape and use a punch or cut out by hand later.
Note: The maximum size for Print Then Cut is 6.75” x 9.25”.
Note: Print Then Cut is not yet available for Android. Print Then Cut is compatible with Cricut Explore and Maker models. Cricut Joy can Cut and Draw only.
Printing the writing style fonts on a background shape
Tip: If you do not wish the background shape to print in color, change the color of the shape to white. As long as your printer does not have a white ink cartridge, it will not print in color.

Insert shape that you want to use for your project. Size and format shape as desired.
- Add text to the canvas, change to a writing style font, and choose a color for the text. Arrange text as desired over the shape you chose for your project. Ensure to keep text completely within the shape to ensure that the text is not cut.
- Select All and click Flatten at the bottom of the Layers panel.
- Click Make It button to print your image on your home printer and cut out on your machine.
Printing the writing style fonts without a background shape
- Add text to the canvas, change to a writing style font, and choose a color for the text. Arrange text as desired for your project. Use Attach if necessary to hold the relative positioning of your text.
- Change the line type from Write to Print. Select a color if desired. Click Make It.
- Select and apply the number of project copies you want, then click Continue. Please note that there is not a way to print without the cut sensor marking at this time.
- Click Send to Printer, select your printer from the list, choose how many copies to print, then click Print.
- Click Cancel to return to the canvas without loading the printed sheet into the machine for cutting. You’re done!
Printing Write images on a background shape
Tip: If you do not wish the background shape to print in color, change the color of the shape to white. As long as your printer does not have a white ink cartridge, it will not print in color.
- Insert the shape that you want to use for your project. Size and format shape as desired. Some Write images are already designed with a background shape that will be cut. Check the Layers panel to see if the image you have chosen includes a background cut layer.
- Add a Write image to the canvas. Arrange the image over the shape you chose for your project and size it to fit within that shape. Ensure to keep image completely within the shape to ensure that the image is not cut.
- Select All and click Flatten at the bottom of the Layers panel.
- Click Make It button to print the image on your home printer and cut out on your machine.
Printing the Write images without a background shape
- Add a Write image to the canvas. If using multiple Write images, use the Attach tool as needed to hold the relative positioning of the images. If the image you select includes a background cut layer, you can hide or delete that layer as needed.
- Change the line type from Write to Print. Select a color if desired. Click Make It.
- Select and apply the number of project copies you want, then click Continue. Please note that there is not a way to print without the cut sensor marking at this time.
- Click Send to Printer, select your printer from the list, choose how many copies to print, then click Print.
- Click Cancel to return to the canvas without loading the printed sheet into the machine for cutting. You’re done!
Note: Since the machine will not be cutting this image out, do not switch the Bleed toggle on.
