Why did Cricut change from a housing + replaceable blade to the new Cutting Tool?
Cricut has transitioned from replaceable blade housing to an integrated blade design, creating a more seamless and user-friendly experience. With the new design, users no longer need to handle sharp blades during setup or replacement, simplifying interaction, improving safety, and reducing steps. This update also enables cost efficiencies, which we’re able to pass along to users through our bundle offerings. Importantly, the integrated design delivers the same performance and functionality as the previous version, the blade itself is unchanged with testing confirming equivalent cutting results.
Does a USB cable come in the box?
Yes, a USB-C to USB-C cable comes in the box. The cable can be used to connect your machine directly to your laptop (or desktop) computer*. Or you can choose to connect via Bluetooth. For those wishing to use the USB-C cable, be sure to check your computer to make sure it has a compatible USB-C port. If not, an adapter will be needed.
*USB-C cable is for connecting to computer only; it does not connect your machine to a mobile device. To use your machine with Design Space on a mobile device, it will connect via Bluetooth.

We recommend leaving your material on the roll until after your cut has finished. Cricut Explore 5 includes sensors that measure your material length for you, ensuring that you have enough material for the project you are working on.
