Do I need to use an adapter with pen & markers in my Cricut Explore 5 machine?
No – all pens & markers compatible with Cricut Explore 5 are inserted directly into the pen holder. No adapter needed! The adapter in packages of pens is for use with other models.
I found some different Cricut pens/markers that are labeled for use with Cricut Explore. Are these compatible with my Cricut Explore 5 machine?
No – those will not fit in Cricut Explore 5. Just look for Cricut pens with this universal symbol: . When it has that symbol, you know it will work!

How to store Cricut pens and markers
We recommend storing your Cricut pens and markers with the nib pointed down for best performance. The exception to this is the Infusible Ink Freehand Dual-Tip markers – those should be stored flat to allow for optimal use of both tips.
