Cricut Joy machines cut Smart Materials without a machine mat, but they can also cut a variety of other materials using a machine cutting mat. With Cricut Joy machines, you can use a LightGrip Mat, StandardGrip Mat, and Card Mat.

Light Grip
LightGrip mats for Cricut Joy come 4.5 in x 12 in (11.4 cm x 30.4 cm) and are ideal for use with light and medium weight paper, medium cardstock, and vinyl.
Standard Grip
Standard Grip mats for Cricut Joy come 4.5 in x 6.5 in (11.4 cm x 16.5 cm) and 4.5 in x 12 in (11.4 cm x 30.4 cm) are ideal for use with materials like vinyl, iron-on, heavy cardstock, poster board and Smart Material scraps that are too small to feed through the machine without a mat.

Ideal for use with common office paper, light cardstock, vellum, and more. Available in 12 in x 12 in (30.4 cm x 30.4 cm) and 12 in x 24 in (30.4 cm x 60.9 cm).
Strong Grip (Purple)
Perfect for securing heavyweight materials such as specialty cardstock, glitter cardstock, chipboard, and fabric with stiffener. Available in 12 in x 12 in (30.4 cm x 30.4 cm) and 12 in x 24 in (30.4 cm x 60.9 cm).
Fabric Grip (Pink)
Combines increased strength, density, and quality plus a light adhesive to create beautiful cuts with a wide variety of fabrics. Use with Cricut machines and Rotary Blade or Bonded-Fabric Blade. Available in 12 in x 12 in (30.4 cm x 30.4 cm) and 12 in x 24 in (30.4 cm x 60.9 cm).

Card Mat 2 x 2
Card Mat 2 x 2 allows you to multiply your card-making with Cricut Explore and Cricut Maker machines. Features 4 panels that fit 5 Cricut Insert Card and Cutaway Card sizes*. Make in bulk for the holidays, thank you notes, and celebrations, or one at a time – it's up to you! And you can add even more flair to your Card Mat 2 x 2 makes with Cricut pens, markers, and Foil Transfer sheets.

Note: When using Card Mat 2 x 2, move the white star wheels on your machine to the center of the rail so they don’t leave track marks on your cards.
Cricut Venture machines use Performance Mats developed especially to withstand the speeds, forces, and pressures that this machine generates. Performance Mats come in three different grip strengths. Mats are color-coded so you can see at a glance which mats to use for your materials.
Standard Grip (Green)
Ideal for use with patterned paper, iron-on, vinyl, and more. Available in 24 in x 12 in (61 cm x 30 cm) and 24 in x 28 in (61 cm x 71 cm).
Light Grip (Blue)
Ideal for use with laser paper, cardstock, vellum, and more. Available in 24 in x 12 in (61 cm x 30 cm) and 24 in x 28 in (61 cm x 71 cm).
Strong Grip (Purple)
Perfect for securing heavyweight materials such as specialty cardstock, glitter cardstock, chipboard, and fabric with stiffener. Available in 24 in x 12 in (61 cm x 30 cm) and 24 in x 28 in (61 cm x 71 cm)
Note: Mats are consumable. All mats will lose their stickiness with use and eventually need to be replaced. Using felt or other materials that leave more fibers on the mat will make the mat lose its stickiness faster. To prolong the life of your mat adhesive, be sure to remove scraps from the mat when finished cutting, and place the mat protective sheet back over the adhesive when not in use.

Cricut Expression & Cricut Expression 2
Can use any Cricut 12"x12" (30.4 cm x 30.4 cm) or 12"x24" (30.4 cm x 60.9 cm) machine mat, including StandardGrip (green), LightGrip (blue), StrongGrip (purple), and FabricGrip (pink).
Cricut Imagine
Compatible only with the Cricut Imagine mat (discontinued).
Cricut Personal & Cricut Create
Use a 6"x12" (15.2 cm x 30.4) Standard Grip machine mat.
Cricut Cake & Cricut Cake Mini
Cricut Cake and Cricut Cake Mini use special non-adhesive food-safe mats (discontinued).
Cricut Cake uses 12"x12" (30.4 cm x 30.4 cm) and 12"x24" (30.4 x 60.9 cm) Cricut Cake Mats.
Cricut Cake Mini uses a 6"x12" (15.2 cm x 30.4) Cricut Cake Mat.
Cricut Mini
Used a 8.5"x12" (21.5 cm x 30.4 cm) StandardGrip mat. With the closure of the Cricut Craft Room software in July 2018, Cricut Mini is no longer usable.
