What you need
- Cricut Explore 3 or Cricut Maker 3 smart cutting machine

- Premium Fine-Point Blade and housing
- Smart Label Paper - Dissolvable (13 in / 33 cm wide)
- Cricut Pens or Markers*
*Not recommended for Infusible Ink or fabric pens, but works well with all other Cricut Pens and Markers. Only use Cricut permanent markers before applying labels to the project surface.
Important: Do not use transfer tape with Smart Label Paper - Dissolvable as it will damage the paper.
Design and cut
- Customize your label design in Design Space. Use Attach to fasten Draw layers to Cut layers.
- Select your material load style (Without Mat) and the Smart Label Paper - Dissolvable cut setting.
Note: For rollers to grip and load your material, Cricut Explore 3 and Cricut Maker 3 allow some space above and below your design. To ensure you have enough Smart Materials for your design, wait until after the cut is complete to trim.
- Align material against left material guide on the machine, then slide it under the mat guides and up against the machine rollers.
- For best results, make sure your material has a straight edge.
- Press Load button. The machine measures your material to ensure there’s enough for your project.
- Leave 10 in (25 cm) of space behind your machine and guide material into roll as it feeds out the back of the machine.
- If your material loaded crookedly the machine will attempt to realign the material as it measures.
- Smart Materials may bow up in the middle when loading. Ensure the star wheels on the roller bar are evenly spaced as this helps the material lay flat.
If your material isn’t lying flat by the end of the measuring process, press the Unload button, realign your material with the left material guide and under the mat guides, and reload.
- For projects that include drawing, the software will prompt you to load your pen.
- Select Go and watch the magic happen!
- When cut is complete, select Unload.
- Allow ink to dry before handling.
Tip: Smart Materials must be at least 6 in (15.24 cm) long to use without a cutting mat. You can still use shorter by placing them on a StandardGrip Mat.

FAQ
How do I dissolve the labels?
Place the label under running water for approximately 30 seconds, then gently rub it with a scrubber or cloth. The paper and adhesive will completely dissolve.
Are dissolvable labels dishwasher friendly?
Yes! For a residue-free result, simply place the labeled object on the top or bottom rack of the dishwasher and run the machine on a normal cycle. Once your object is removed from the dishwasher, the label will be gone.
Can I use Transfer Tape with dissolvable labels?
No, the adhesive on Transfer Tape will cause tearing. To transfer your label, simply cut your design out like a sticker, then apply by hand.
Will this product work with any Cricut Pens & Markers?
Yes, most Cricut Pens & Markers work with Dissolvable Labels, including Gel, Glitter, Opaque, and Permanent. This material is not recommended for use with Cricut Infusible Ink Pens & Markers, or the Cricut Fabric Pen. It is not recommended to use Cricut permanent markers on Dissolvable Label paper after it has been applied to the project surface, as the ink may bleed through onto the item.
