Design Space for Desktop and iOS allow you to save images, projects, and fonts to your device so that you can design, edit, and cut projects without an internet connection. Find instructions and FAQ below for saving content for offline use.
Note: At this time, Offline use is not available on Design Space for Android devices. An internet connection is required to design, edit, and cut from your Android device.

What does it mean to design offline?
It means you can design, edit, and cut projects without an internet connection.
Will my projects sync across all devices?
Yes. When using Design Space for Desktop, you can choose to save your projects to the cloud only or to the cloud and your computer. Keep in mind, however, that if you are not connected to the internet when you save a project, it will not be available on other devices until you re-connect to the internet and sync to the cloud.
Can I use Cricut Access content offline if I am not a Cricut Access subscriber?
If your project includes Cricut Access content that has not yet been purchased, you will not be able to complete a cut offline. Once the content is purchased, you can then complete the cut, online or offline.
Will I be able to sign in to Design Space if I'm not connected to the internet?
No. To sign in to your Design Space account, you must be connected to the internet.
Why can't I sign in to Design Space while I'm offline?
To sign in to Design Space, you will need to be connected to the internet. Once signed in, you then choose to work offline. Just disconnect from your Wi-Fi network or unplug the Ethernet cable from your computer.
How do I use Design Space for Desktop while offline?
To download and install the application, you'll need an internet connection. But once the application installed, you can choose to work offline any time. Just disconnect from your Wi-Fi network or unplug the Ethernet cable from your computer. You will still need to connect to the internet periodically to verify your Cricut Access subscription, synchronize content, and keep Design Space for Desktop up to date. How do I access my projects and images when I am not connected to the internet?
When you’re working online and choose to save your project, choose to save your project to the cloud and your computer (not just to the cloud). That way, your project, including all images and fonts within that project, will be available for offline use. You can also download images and fonts to your computer for use while offline.
Can I cut when I am not connected to the internet?
Yes. If you choose the option that saves your project to your computer and the cloud, you can edit and cut that project without an internet connection. You can even create and cut a brand-new project using the fonts, images, and patterns that were used in projects already saved to your computer.
Also, if you experience an internet disruption or server outage when you are working on an unsaved Canvas, you will still be able to edit and cut that Canvas. Save your project periodically as you work; it will be saved to your computer, but it will automatically sync online once your internet connection is restored.
Note: You will not be able to cut projects that include content you haven’t purchased (or that is not included with your Cricut Access plan). Purchases must be completed while connected to the internet, or must be part of your existing Cricut Access plan.
Can I search for projects and images when I'm not connected to the internet?
No. When not connected to the internet you'll only be able to browse through images, fonts, and projects you have saved to your computer for offline use.
Can I upload images while not connected to the internet?
No. Uploading images for your project requires an internet connection.
Will my project automatically be saved if I am disconnected?
No. If you lose connection while working on a project, you can still keep working on your Canvas and even save the project. It will be saved to your computer, but it will automatically sync online once your internet connections is restored.
What is offline for Design Space for iOS?
Design Space for iOS allows you to design and cut projects without an internet connection. Download content onto your device to use offline. It allows you to design and cut using downloaded content without an internet connection.
What can I download for offline use?
All images, fonts, and projects that you own or have the rights to can be downloaded for offline use. This includes uploaded images and Cricut Access images while your membership is active. Handpick what you download so only the images, fonts, and projects you need most are saved on your device.
How do I save my projects to use offline?
With an internet connection:
Simply tap Save As and select Save to this iPad/iPhone.
Without an internet connection:
Tap Save to automatically save your project to your device.
How do I download images to use offline?
To download an image for offline use, open the Images screen, select an image, and tap Download. The image label will read Downloaded once the download is complete.
How many images can I download at a time?
Design Space does not limit the total number of images you can download to your device. Up to 50 images may be selected in a single batch. Once a batch of selected images has completed downloading, additional images may be selected and downloaded.
What does the Select Visible button do?
Tapping Select Visible in the bottom left of the images screen will select all images that are visible on the screen. This feature may be useful when attempting to quickly select and download multiple images at once.
How do I view the images I’ve downloaded?
To view downloaded images, open the Images view, tap the filter icon, and select On this iPad/iPhone. When working offline, On this iPad/iPhone will be the default image view.
How do I download fonts to use offline?
Downloading fonts to your device is easy. Just follow these simple steps:
- Tap the Text button
- Tap the Select button on the top left of the Font view
- Select the fonts you want to download by tapping on them
- Tap the Download button in the top right of the selection view
Tip: Only fonts without a price next to them can be downloaded. If you attempt to download a font you don’t have permissions to use, you will be prompted to purchase the font prior to downloading it.
How do I view the projects I’ve saved to my device?
To view projects that have been saved to your device, tap the 3 bars at the top of the Projects screen and select My Projects on this iPad/iPhone. When working offline, On this iPad/iPhone will be the default project view.
Can I save ready-to-make projects to my device?
To save a ready-to-make project to your device, tap the Customize option, then tap Save As, and select Save to this iPad/iPhone.
Note: Project photos and instructions will not be saved offline.
How long can I use free images offline?
Free images, including basic shapes, can be used up to 7 consecutive days without connecting to the internet. To renew image permissions, simply launch the app while connected to the internet.
Can I use my Cricut Access images while offline?
Yes. Cricut Access images can be downloaded while your membership is active. These images can be used without an Internet connection for 30 days or until the subscription renewal date, whichever comes first. At that time, you will be prompted to connect to the internet to confirm your Cricut Access subscription in order to continue using those images offline.
How do I remove downloaded images?
From the Images screen, select one or more downloaded images, and tap Remove.
Note: The Remove button will only appear if all selected images have been downloaded. If one or more selected images have not been downloaded, the Download button will be displayed.
Do my offline projects automatically sync with my cloud projects when I connect to the internet?
No. Projects saved to your device are saved as separate files and will not automatically sync to the cloud.
How can I update the cloud version of my project with changes made to my downloaded project?
Projects are saved as separate files and are not automatically synced to the cloud. While online, updating your cloud project is easy:
- Open the downloaded project and select Save As
- Rename the project using the same name as the cloud version of the project
- Select Save to the Cloud and confirm that you want to update the existing project
What features are not available while offline?
The following features and functionality are only available with an Internet connection:
- Print Then Cut calibration
- Making Print Then Cut projects
- Custom Materials
- New machine setup
- Cartridge and category views
- Uploading Images
Is offline available for the desktop version of Design Space?
Yes. Design Space for Desktop has an Offline feature.
Can cartridges be downloaded for offline use?
Entire cartridges cannot be selected for offline use. However, individual images within the cartridges can be selected and downloaded.
What happens to the projects and images on my device if I sign out of the app?
Downloaded projects and images are associated with your Cricut ID. If you sign out of the app after downloading images, you must log in again (requires internet) to access that downloaded content.
Important: Please note that you will not be able to sign out of the app while offline. Deleting the app will also delete any items you’ve saved to your device.
How to save content for offline use
- Navigate to the My Stuff page and select the three dots on the project tile you want to save. Then select the toggle to Save for Offline.
- The first time you save a project in Design Space for Desktop you will be prompted with a save settings dialogue to choose how you would like to save projects from that point forward.
You can choose to:
- Save to Cloud & Computer — every project from that point on is saved for offline use by default.
- Save to Cloud Only — every project from that point forward is saved only in the cloud and not available by default for offline use.
- Change these settings at any time through Settings in the Design Space menu.
- Save images for offline use by navigating to the Images tab on the Canvas.
- From there you are free to search and filter for any images you would like. Select an image tile, then select the three dots menu and choose Download.
- When download is complete, a computer icon will show up on the image tile to show it has successfully downloaded.
- System fonts are fonts that are installed on your computer. You don't have to download them for offline use as they are already on your desktop.
- Save Cricut fonts for offline use by navigating to the fonts menu on the Canvas. From there you can download any font by hovering over the font you want to download and selecting the download button that will appear to the right side of the font.
- You can initiate the download of more than one font at a time. Once your font has successfully downloaded a computer icon will appear to the right side of the font.
Note: Fonts have varying download times based on the size of the font.
