The Auto Mirror feature in Design Space automatically enables or disables the mirror setting based on the material you select. This ensures that your design is correctly prepared for heat transfer materials, saving you time and effort! Here is how it works:
- Auto Mirror will automatically turn on for materials that require mirroring, such as Iron-On or Infusible Ink. When you select one of these materials, Design Space will enable the mirror setting for you, so you don’t need to worry about toggling it manually.
- If you change the material to one that does not require mirroring (such as, regular cardstock, vinyl, etc.), Auto Mirror will automatically turn off. This ensures that the mirror setting is only active when necessary for heat transfer projects.
- When switching from a non-mirrorable material back to one that requires mirroring, Auto Mirror will automatically turn back on. Design Space will detect the change in material type and adjust the mirror setting accordingly.
- If you ever want to manually adjust the mirror setting, simply toggle the Mirror switch on or off in the project preview screen under Set Material. Auto Mirror will adjust to your material selection, but you can override when needed.
Auto Mirror when Save Material Settings is Enabled
The Auto Mirror feature in Design Space helps you manage the mirror setting automatically based on the material you're using. However, the information below will walk you through the some different scenarios and how Auto Mirror interacts with material settings when "Save Material Settings" is enabled.
- When Save Material Settings is selected, the Auto Mirror message will appear, this ensures you are notified the first time you select a material setting that requires mirroring and after that, the setting is remembered for future uses.
- If you override the Auto Mirror setting for a single mat in a multi-mat project and "Save Material Settings" is selected, the change will only appear on that specific mat. Remaining mats will retain their Auto Mirror settings based on the material selected.
- When using the Joy Xtra with a Card Mat, the Auto Mirror message will appear after the prompt to move the star wheels. This ensures that the machine is correctly setup and ready to cut before the prompt to mirror if the material requires it.
- For Print Then Cut (PTC) materials, the Auto Mirror setting will not be applied. The mirror setting is based on the material selected and is not required for printing. If you wish to mirror an image prior to printing, this should be done on the Canvas.
Auto Mirror Behavior on Explore Family Machines:
The Explore Family machines have a unique feature since the dial on the machine allows you to manually select material type, such as switching from Vinyl to Bonded Fabric. This introduces some special behavior when Auto Mirror is enabled in Design Space, especially when switching material settings through the Dial.
- Auto Mirror Behavior During Dial Changes - With each material selection, Design Space checks whether Auto Mirror should be on or off based on the selected material.
- For example: When switching from Vinyl to Bonded Fabric, the software may first enable Auto Mirror for materials like Iron-On, and then disable it for materials like Vinyl or Fabric that do not require mirroring.
