Cricut BrightPad FAQ

Cricut BrightPad and Cricut BrightPad Go provide an illuminated workspace useful for many different craft projects:

• Weeding – Illuminate hard-to-see cut lines of vinyl, iron-on, and adhesive-backed paper materials and remove the pieces you don’t want in your final design.
• Tracing – The even backlight makes it easy to see lines through pages, so artists can easily trace drawings from one page to another. For sewists, easily transfer patterns and marks onto fabric.
• Paper Crafting – See paper pieces clearly and align them quickly with illumination. A backlit surface can help you piece everything together.
• Quilting – Can make piecing quilt blocks together easier.
• Modeling – Illuminates small pieces and can help when placing model pieces together.
• Photography – Back light your slides and negatives for quick review and analysis.

Every Cricut BrightPad model has nonslip pads on the bottom to keep it securely in place on most flat surfaces. Its slim, lightweight profile can even be comfortably positioned in your lap.

Cricut BrightPad Go allows for cordless freedom. It is extremely portable so you can use it anywhere without being tethered to a power outlet. Take it with you wherever you wish – on a trip, at a friend’s house, outside, watching TV, or sitting in a comfy chair. The cordless design also makes it easier to rotate and move it into the just-right position for your project.

*Must be plugged in during use. Does not contain a rechargeable battery. Can be plugged in to a computer USB port, or any standard USB wall adapter that can accept 100-240V ~50/60Hz 0.25A and provides an output of 5.0v 1amp (1000mA).

Cricut BrightPad is designed to be compact and portable, easy to carry around in a backpack or messenger bag.

There are several aesthetic differences between models that will help you tell the difference.

Cricut BrightPad

• Mint-colored case
• The lightbox surface sits inside the rim of the colored back case. If the product is flat on a table, and you are looking straight down at the lightbox surface, you can see the Mint case around the edges.
• There is only one button to control on/off and brightness settings.
• Button is raised above the surface.
• Model number on the back is: CLP70002

Cricut BrightPad Go

• Indigo-colored case
• The lightbox surface sits inside the rim of the colored back case. If the product is flat on a table, and you are looking straight down at the lightbox surface, you can see the Indigo case around the edges.
• It has three buttons: Power, +, and -
• Buttons are flush with lightbox surface.
• Model number on the back is: CLP70003

Original Cricut BrightPad (2018)

• This model came in multiple colors, so if your case is Lilac, Pink, or Light Blue, it is an original Cricut BrightPad from 2018. If it has a mint-colored case, check these other characteristics to determine your model.
• The lightbox surface and white frame completely covers the colored case from the front. The back case color cannot be seen on the front edges if the product is flat on a table, and you are looking straight down at the lightbox surface.
• Power button and +/- buttons are raised above the surface.
• Model number on the back is: CLP70001

Cricut BrightPad – Press the power button to power on. Press power button again to cycle through brightness settings. The fourth press of power button will power off. You can also press and hold the power button for a few seconds to power off.

Cricut BrightPad Go – Press the power button to power on. Then, use the +/- buttons to control brightness. Press power button again to power off.

Cricut BrightPad – No. It must be plugged in to a power source to function. Use a standard USB wall adapter or computer USB port. It does not contain a battery and does not come with a wall adapter.

Cricut BrightPad Go – Yes, it contains a lithium iron rechargeable battery and can function while not plugged into a power outlet. To charge the battery, use the included USB cable and wall adapter. It may also be plugged in to a computer USB port to charge. It will function while plugged in/charging. For fastest charging, plug it in and power off.

Yes. It takes longer to fully charge while in use. For fastest charging, plug it in and power off.

It takes approximately 2 hours to fully charge. Battery duration depends on the brightness setting used. The battery will last approximately 2 hours on the brightest setting, and approximately 12 hours on the lowest setting.

There are several light color and pattern indicators to indicate battery charge:

Plugged in:

• Power button breathing (slowly fading on and off) – indicates battery is charging
• Power button solid white – indicates battery is fully charged

Not plugged in:

• No button lights – unit is powered off
• Power button and +/- buttons are solid white – unit is powered on
• Power button flashes red slowly – indicates low battery, approximately 5-15 minutes remaining
• Power button flashes red quickly – indicates very low battery, < 5 mins remaining
• No lights and will not power on when power button is pressed – battery is completely drained. Connect to power outlet to charge. Unit can be used while plugged in.

Yes. We have not exhaustively tested this method and cannot guarantee charge expectancy when using external battery packs.
